History

 "Lenta", JSC , the former Cheboksary Ribbon Weaving Factory, was established on the basis of Kiev Ribbon Weaving Factory and Zavidovskaya Textile Factory “Bason”, evacuated in the fall of 1941. Zavidovskaya Textile Factory “Bason” was housed in the Algeshevo Church, while Kiev Factory – in a barn on the outskirts of the town.

The first output of these factories was dated February, 1942. The first straps (straps for submachine guns and gas masks) manufactured during the war, were intended for war needs, which had determined the basic line of production for the decades to come.

On January 12, 1944, Kiev Ribbon Weaving Factory and Zavidovskaya Textile Factory “Bason” were amalgamated into one enterprise which acquired the name Cheboksary Weaving Factory “Bason”. In 1951 the Factory was renamed and became known as Cheboksary Ribbon Weaving Factory. From 1951 to 1960 the Factory specialized in manufacturing of heavy belt straps of the “Platt” system. In 1961, the factory put into operation a new weaving workshop, installed 142 narrow looms and mastered production of special capron straps. In the 70-ties the factory opened new activity lines, and namely, production of safety belt straps and introduction of new foreign equipment.

The Factory’s shift to a market economy, accompanied by the general conversion in the country and collapse of the USSR, was marked by active diversification directed at industrial, civil and domestic application.

For the last decade the Company has tripled its basic assortment. Development of new straps, products and services by the Company is a non-stop process. There have been put in production such products as cotton belt straps with the width of up to 100 mm, technical capron straps of up to 150 mm; the range of straps for bags, rucksacks and tents has also become considerably wider. On the customers’ request, the Company has developed non-shrinking trouser and corsage straps for clothing.
